Iona, Scotland - 2008
Director David Dean once again led our pilgrimmage trip in 2008, this time to a site rich in Presbyterian history. The Iona Community, located on the isle of Iona, Scotland is a dispersed ecumenical Christian community that works for peace, social justice, and an overall renewal of christian community and worship. Check out their website for more information: iona.org.uk

Taize, France - 2006 and 2007
Six students in 2006, and five in July 2007 joined our director, David, on an international journey to visit Europe and spend a week living in the ecumenical Christian monastic community of Taize. Taize hosts tens of thousands of college-aged young people every year. The community is organized around an Christian brotherhood whose main pillar is a belief in a loving God, whom we worship in song. The student center group spent a week living in the community, assisting the brothers with their daily tasks, meeting young people from all over the world, and participating in Taize song services several times a day. Taize music is sung in many different languages, in several-part harmony. Simple, beautiful lines are sung over and over, taking the singer to a meditative state in which the music transcends the moment to become a uniquely spiritual experience.
